Tips to Improve Mental health as a Breast Cancer Fighter and Breast Cancer Survival

Anxiety and depression are the most frequent emotions cancer patients face. Anxiety can be the result of the possible changes happening in the future or the events that have happened in the past. Thus the doctors and counsellors advice cancer patients to “live in the present” and “let go of the things you can’t have control on”. While a positive mind helps to cope up with cancer; adapting small changes can help boost your mental well-being.

  • Well-balanced diet – Take enough calories to gain energy, which will help fatigue, boost strength and positive attitude.
  • Getting fresh air – Going outside and getting fresh air and sunshine will clear the negative thoughts.
  • Talk things out & grieve losses – Breast cancer patients experience losing their sense of independence and control over their life. Take your time to grieve losses, share your thoughts and emotions and decide to move on.
  • Financial Counselling – Talk with the financial counsellor to help you navigate expenses. Well-planned expenses will help you reduce your anxiety.
  • Active social life – Socialise, build and improve a relationship with the people having a positive attitude.

Addressing mental well-being early in the breast cancer treatment can improve the strength and spirit of fighting the disease. Your mental strength will play an important role in your recovery and help you adapt the changes during and after the treatment as a breast cancer fighter and a survivor.
